Ali İhsan Uygun, Director General of TCDD, made important statements regarding the new location of Eurasia Rail.
Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Republic of Turkey, by recognizing the railways sector as one of the cornerstones of sustainable development, has prioritized railways sector as a preferential state policy. The development of all modes of transport with intercompatibility, balance, and integration has made it necessary to invest in the railways far greater. Consequently, appropriations allocated for the railways sector increased exponentially every passing year in order to reach the goals set for the sector. In accordance with Turkish State Railways 2023 Strategic Objectives, through the ongoing investments, railways sector is being prepared to make its mark in the transportation system on the 100th anniversary of the foundation of Turkish Republic.
International exhibitions serve as one of the most effective platforms in which we can reflect the capabilities we have gained as Turkey in the field of infrastructure and business administration in the rolling stock and rail systems industry and the progress we have made with regards to railway industry and industrialization. For this purpose, International Rolling Stock, Infrastructure, and Logistics Exhibition (Eurasia Rail), which has been organized with the support of our Enterprise, supports local companies to increase their competitiveness and innovation capacity and also serves as a business development platform that enhances interaction at national and international level. The Eurasia Rail, which we see as an opportunity for us to keep track of the emerging technologies in the rapidly developing global railway industry, opens the door to sharing the opportunities and capabilities we have gained with other countries as well as establishing new cooperation ties.
The first Eurasia Rail was held in Ankara in 2011, then, in the following years, in İstanbul and lastly in 2019, the exhibition was held in İzmir. Eurasia Rail 2021, which will be organized with the cooperation of Turkish State Railways and Konya Metropolitan Municipality, will play an important role in introducing the capabilities that we have gained as Turkey to domestic and international visitors. Moreover, it will offer significant opportunities for our industry representatives to promote their products to foreign markets, develop new sales channels, cooperate with domestic and international companies, make use of technological developments by establishing partnerships, and communicate with the domestic and foreign buyers directly.
Since there was no railway connection to the exhibition areas where the previous Eurasia Rail iterations took place, the rolling stock produced by the manufacturers could not be exhibited. TÜYAP Konya Fair Center, which is approximately 5 km away from Kayacık Logistics Center, will easily meet the demands of the manufacturers in this regard. The rolling stock to be exhibited at the Eurasia Rail 2021 will be brought to the Kayacık Logistics Center by train and then to the exhibition area by road. The vehicles will be exhibited on the replica rail tracks to be laid by Turkish State Railways.
In 2021, Eurasia Rail-International Rolling Stock, Infrastructure, and Logistics Exhibition, which will be held for the 9th time, will bring together the members of the international rolling stock and rail systems industry in Konya TÜYAP Fair Center on March 3-5, 2021. I hope to see you at Eurasia Rail, the most effective meeting platform in the rail industry, which has the privilege of being the third largest exhibition of its kind in the world, with a powerful organization and the contributions of railway professionals.
