Dr. İbrahim Bekar was born in Sivas in 1972. After graduating from Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Mechanics Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1995, he completed his post-graduate and doctorate studies at Akran University respectively in 1999 and 2003.
After a brief post-doc study, he started his work life in 2003 at Intel Corporation as a technology development engineer and took up various roles at the company such as Expert Engineer, Technology Development Manager and Process Development Manager until 2014. He mostly focused on Technology Management, Advanced Manufacturing and Process Development.
In 2014, he returned to Turkey as TÜBİTAK Materials Institute Assistant Manager and was later on assigned as TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center Vice President. At Marmara Research Center, he took part in various duties such as guiding the center's studies aimed towards developing and transferring advanced technologies that will provide added value for the industry and coordinating strategic projects. He was also the Turkish delegate in the European Union Horizon 2020 NMBP (Nanotechnology, Advanced Materials, Biotechnology, Advanced Manufacturing and Process) program committee.
At the board meeting on January 30, 2018, it was decided that İbrahim Bekar is assigned as the Sector Head of Transport, Security, Energy and Automation Systems (TSES) and ASELSAN Deputy General Manager.
Dr. İbrahim Bekar is married with three children and fluent in English.
