Mehmet Ali ÇİMEN completed his undergraduate studies at the Department of Control Engineering at Istanbul Technical University in 2007 and at the Department of Electrical Engineering at the same university in 2008. In 2010, he completed his master's degree with the thesis on electric vehicles in the Department of Control and Automation Engineering at Istanbul Technical University, and completed his doctorate with the thesis on rail vehicles in the same university and department.
Between 2007 and 2012, he worked as a researcher on electric vehicle technologies at TUBITAK Marmara Research Center Energy Institute and took part in electric/hybrid electric vehicle development projects. Between 2012 and 2016, he worked as an senior researcher and project manager in projects on the development of rail system vehicles. Between 2016-2020, he worked as the Deputy Director of Transportation Technologies at the TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center Energy Institute. He has been working as the Director of TUBITAK Rail Transport Technologies Institute since August 2020.
