Dr. Pelin Boyacıoğlu

Railway Research Institute Industrial Fellow

Pelin Boyacıoğlu did a double major in Geomatics Engineering and Civil Engineering at Yıldız Technical University. She graduated in 2008. She worked as a Research Assistant at Boğaziçi University Department of Transportation and did her master’s degree in Smart Transportation Systems. She completed her thesis of Inspection and Evaluation of Accident-Incident Detection Strategies in 2011. She then worked as a line specialist in the Marmaray Project and received the “Best Engineer” award for her outstanding services in the opening of the Bosporus Passing Line on October 29, 2013. In 2014, she earned a full-time doctoral fellowship from the Huddersfield University Institute of Railway Research and inspected the rail damage in London Metro. Her newly-developed abrasion and crack depth model aims to optimize railway maintenance. In 2018, she started to work as an academician at the same institution and has been working in various international projects in the fields of wheel and rail abrasion, switch design and derailment analysis.
