Murat Güncan

Murat Güncan was born in 1974 in Kırklareli. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University Department of Control and Computer Engineering and did his master’s degree in the Department of Computer Engineering at the same university.
He has been active at institutes of TÜBİTAK MAM and TÜBİTAK BİLGEM since 1999. He first started working as a researcher and business package leader in various projects conducted in defense industry. He has been active in railway signalization projects since 2009 and still acts as the Head of TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Rail Systems Department.
Within the scope of his works in the department, he took part in the development and safety integrity certification of Turkey’s first local interlocking system and traffic control center in the YERLİSİNYAL projects initiated by the partnership of TÜBİTAK – TCDD that are still underway. He also played a role in the commissioning of the YERLİSİNYAL systems in Mithatpaşa, Ankara HST Terminal, Horsunlu – Buharkent and Malatya – Fırat lines.
He currently conducts the extension activities for a total rail line of 550 km within the scope of four different projects for YERLİSİNYAL systems and works in the adaptation of YERLİSİNYAL systems with ERTMS Level 1.
He simultaneously works as the “Trackside Signalization System” Project Manager in the Yenikapı-Otogar-Havalimanı-Kirazlı-Halkalı Metro Signalization System Development Project conducted by the partnership of Metro Istanbul-TÜBİTAK BİLGEM-Aselsan covering the development of Turkey’s first local CBTC system and safety integrity certification.
